When engaged to James Hanson, Audrey had the Fontana Sisters create a wedding gown for her. The three women – Zoe, Giovanna, and Micol – were known for their romantic wedding dresses. While the resulting dress was not the glitziest in celebrity history, it was nonetheless a beautiful work with tailored pleating on the bodice and a neat bow at the front waist, a modest neckline and 3/4 dolman sleeves, and a skirt that gently lengthened in back. Audrey and James did not marry, however. She called the wedding off and asked the Fontana sisters to give the gown away to a girl who needed it. The beautiful dress ended up in the hands of a poor Italian girl named Amabile.
